With Hope and Will Chapter 5

Ewil fought to reach the struggling Red Lantern and created a circular sweep that threw away a wave of Black Lanterns that tried to overtake him. Reaching Raze he kicked aside the few remaining Black Lanterns and created a short ranged blast of Yellow energy to disorient any nearby Black Lantern without disrupting the shield the Green Lanterns had placed over their final hold. Once Ewil managed to free Razer from his stunned tormenters he began pushing him towards the protective circle.

“Hurry!” Ewil cried just before a dark shadow covered him and he spun around to come face to face with Black Hand.

Time slowed until it was too late to duck the skull racing towards his face and he was thrown to the side. The ground came so fast Ewil could not avoid it, he was faintly aware of his name being called in several places when he realized he was no longer wearing his helmet. Remembering where he was he quickly rolled aside and just in time to avoid a jagged black blade from scouring him in place as he rolled to his knee. He leapt away as that same blade was swung in his direction; he stumbled back as he tried to avoid the swinging weapon as Black Hand changed it into a serrated scythe and continued to sweep at him. Out of the corner of his eye he spotted Razer attempting to come to his aid but Ewil knew he had made his choice when Black Hand suddenly vanished as Razer plowed a fiery roar into him, knocking him aside.

Surprised Ewil stumbled to his feet and quickly began to fight the Black scourge circling around him as Razer soon joined him and began to move towards the group. Ewil quickly got the idea and began to clear a path for him and Razer to make it back to the circle of depleting Green Lanterns when he noticed Black Hand leap up as Razer had his back turned to enter the group of Lanterns and his eyes grew wide in horror.

“DAD LOOK OUT!!” he cried as Razer turned to see Black Hand’s scythe rise and change into a sword to pierce Razer’s heart.

His eyes grew wide as his pale tattooed visage formed into a face of horror as he gazed at the crooked blade that had erupted from his chest. He heard several voices call his name but all he saw was the enraged and horrified face of Razer who was held back by Kilowog as Aya and Hal held back Ehopel. Ewil had leapt forward and pushed Razer towards the protective circle of the awaiting Lanterns only for the thrust to land in his own back. Tears were drifting down Ehopel’s face as he was drawn backwards, the sharp pain of the blade lifting him and pulling him away from the safety of his friends. Several feet away he felt as the blade that held him vanished and he crumbled to the ground, all he could see was the shadowed floor before all of the light began to dim and then there was nothing but darkness.

Ehopel screamed for Ewil as Black Hand stood over his body, his minions creating a path just so she could see the still form of her companion.

“Ewil! My brother, Ewil!” she cried as Hal and Aya held her back.

Kilowog was having just as much difficulty holding back Razer before he stopped fighting when he saw that Ewil was no longer alive. His eyes were wide with shock at the sight of the young one whose face he knew belonged to his own kind but with a more mechanical tinge like Aya. Ewil had borne the same tattoos every Volkregian had and he then realized Ewil had called him his ‘dad’. He turned to look at Ehopel who called Ewil her brother and slumped to her knees in sobs as the Green Lanterns created a shield to defend them from the onslaught. He looked at her for a moment before he realized the others were staring at something beyond the shield and looked to see. Black Hand had raised Ewil’s body to a sitting position and seemed entirely focused on Ehopel as she mourned on her knees.

“Oh Laaanterrrrn.” A chilly voice rang from beyond the barrier.

Ehopel looked up to see Black Hand holding her brother’s arm by the wrist on his knees, his hollowed sockets and rotting face disgusting to behold. He focused on her warily before holding up the skull in his other hand, its fearsome grin sending chills down her spine. She knew what came next and could only watch as new tears formed at the sight as Black Hand began to recite his own creed.

The Blackest Night falls from the skies
The darkness grows as all light dies
We crave your hearts and your demise
By my Black Hand the dead shall rise!

Everybody watched in horror as the jaw of the skull opened to reveal a chasm of blackness that could extend to the back of its skull or into nothingness. From the blackness a single ring floated forth, the Black Lantern insignia on its crest. It floated towards Ewil, circling around the hand that Black Hand held before floating to his middle finger and falling in place before darkness crept from it. The darkness traveled down Ewil’s hand down his arm and towards his face before it flowed into his mouth and eyes. At this every Black Lantern ceased their attack and backed away as Black Hand grinned wickedly before dropping Ewil’s arm and allowing him to sit slouched on his own. His armor shifted into a dark glassy smooth substance and became emblazoned by the Black Lantern insignia on the chest before he slowly raised his head, looking darkly at the survivors that watched.

“Behold, your last hope is dead.” Black Hand said coldly before making chilly laughter as Ewil stood, staring at Ehopel with blank eyes before his face contorted into a monstrous snarl and he flew forward, slamming into the shield and raked his fingers across the smooth green dome.

“Ehopel you are mine.” He hissed as Ehopel looked at him.

Ehopel looked at him for a moment, eyes blank and leaking before looking at Black Hand, aware at the looks she was getting at her sudden silence before she glared at Black Hand.

“Hope is not dead, for I AM Hope!” she snapped before turning and returning to the floating sphere of light that now began to blaze white as she approached it and held her hands to it.

“And I shall recite your destruction.” She said an eerie calm overtaking her before she retook her original position and looked directly at the light and began to speak.

In brightest Day there will be light
To cleanse the soul and let wrongs right
When darkness falls look to the sky
A new dawn comes, let there be LIGHT!

A flash of light and a sudden pulse threw back every Black Lantern attacking the shield. Every survivor looked in shock as Ehopel stood there, once you got past the realization she was clothed in light you saw she wore a simple suit with a heightened collar. Stripes of light traveling around her wrists and down her shoulders that combined into an insignia that countered those of the Black Lanterns. Instead of the stripes raining down the lights emblazed the triangle to symbolize the appearance of dawn. She gazed upon the group before looking at Black Hand, sending him a cold look and turning towards the Green Lantern main power battery.

“Destroy them!” Black Hand cried huskily and his legion leapt forward like animals towards the shocked group of Lanterns but it was too late.

Ehopel reached her hand into the battery and it began to glow white, its green vessel shimmering before it too faded to white and a powerful shockwave knocked every Black Lantern back, saving the survivors before they were even touched. It began to pulse vibrantly as every shadow was brought to light as the battery began to glow vibrantly, blinding any who dared to stare too long as its power grew to a colossal level. Soon its pulse had reached its maximum and it concaved before bursting once again, this time reaching past the walls of its barriers and Oa itself began to glow with its power. Its power traveled to each Black Lantern as they stayed in place, frozen by the power of the light as it overwhelmed them, turning Lanterns back to their original selves and the invading force only reverting to their pre-Black Lantern forms. The force not only stopped the invasion but closed the open portal and knocked down everyone and knocked out most of the survivors. Only by the quick shielding of Aya over Kilowog, Razer, and Hal did they remain conscious.

Ehopel stepped away from the light shakily, the glow from her suit fading slightly at the amount of power she had expressed as it reverted to its original green glow. She turned to look at the gawking looks from the Interceptor crewmates as all but Aya stared in shock at what they had just witnessed. She began to walk past them and headed straight for one figure, the one that lay beside her own hated enemy.

“Brother, stand, it is time we bring back the light to our world.” She whispered as she crouched beside him and touched his chest.

Ewil’s wounded chest healed and sealed itself before he gave a life giving breathe and sat up, looking around dizzily as a White Lantern ring appeared on his hand where his Black one had been. He looked at Ehopel and smiled, his Volkregian tattoos shifting as he did before he seemed to realize he did not have his mask and touched his face as his costume changed to mirror hers.

“Do not worry, brother, it is time they knew.” She said and they turned to look at the group before Aya began to walk towards them.

“He called Razer his father and you call him your brother.” Aya stated before cocking her helm to the side.

“Is Razer your genetic paternal parent?” she asked.

Ehopel smiled and held out a hand to shake and Aya complied.

“My real name is Hope, just Hope. Ewil is my twin brother, Will, and Razer is our paternal father. YOU are our maternal mother and are the reason why we even exist.” She said and smiled as Aya froze mid-handshake.

Will looked towards Razer and walked past Hope and his now declared mother towards the group and stood in front of Razer with a smile on his face.

“I barely knew you when you were taken by Black Hand and his crooked allies but I remembered enough to know we had much to gain from being reunited.” He said.

“I-I…have…WILL have a son…Will.” He said looking at him in shock.

Will smiled and looked towards Kilowog and Hal, the latter had broken out of his stupidity much faster than the others.

“And did you know US in your time?” Hal asked as he crossed his arms.

“Indeed, my crazy uncles.” He said with a smirk.

Kilowog began to splutter when Aya and Hope approached the group.

“Hope says she wishes for our help in the transfer of her timeline former Black Lanterns back to her world.” She explained.

“My blast had not only eliminated the power of the Black Lanterns from your world but also closed the entrance from where they came. The blast also knocked out every sentient being on Oa, excluding you and ourselves, and will remain in effect until we successfully transfer everyone from my world back to our world.” Hope continued.

The Green Lanterns and Red Lantern blinked in shock before Hal finally nodded.

“Alright, who’s up for a cleanup?” he asked.

Kilowog grunted as he pushed the last former Black Lantern through the portal Hope had created and wiped his perspiring forehead.

“Is that the last of them?” Razer asked.

Hope nodded at him and closed the portal before smiling at the group kindly before speaking.

“It’s so sad you will not remember any of this.” She said.

“What?” Hal suddenly asked only to fall unconscious as Hope enveloped them in her white light as Will used his own power on Aya and held her over his shoulder before grabbing Kilowog while Hope grabbed Razer and Hal.

“Ready?” she asked and was given a nod before they returned back to Oa and passed over the unconscious forms of the Green Lantern Corps.

They headed towards the dock they had left the Interceptor and brought their cargo aboard. Once inside they put each member on a bed in the medical room. In no hurry they casually walked to the control stations and started the ship before programming the warp drive.

“They won’t remember a thing?” Will asked.

“Not a thing until the power of the White ring affects them once more, and all we needed to do will be done by the time they wake.” She said and smiled at her brother as they warped away.

“Did you eliminate any sign of our presence?” he asked.

“Once we return to Oa I will.” She said with a smile.

Soon they came to their destination; the beautiful skies of Odym appeared in the windows as Will directed the ship to land at its previous coordinates. Soon they had landed and Will carried out Razer towards the approaching figures of Ganthet and Saint Walker when an elephant like humanoid followed behind them his hands clasped together in a saint like way.

“I hope you received our message.” Hope said with a smile.

“We did and we are glad to accept our soon to be member.” Saint Walker said with a smile.

“I know you will keep silent about our influence, if it had not been for the message your future selves had left us we would not have known of our own influence.” Will said with a smile.

“I have the message.” Ganthet said and handed them a data pad.

“Care for it well.” He said smiling.

“Thank you, for all you have done.” Hope said bending and kissing the ex-Guardians cheek.

“No, we have you to thank, and may hope be with you.” Ganthet said and they each bowed to each other before the siblings left, leaving Razer with erased and falsely implanted memories of their influence and his past with them.

The twins left the planet and warped back to earth before performing their other tasks including taking Hal Jordan home and then going back to Oa to put Kilowog in the training room and Aya in the council room with their false memories. Once they were done they put the Interceptor back in place and used her influence over the main power battery to erase all the memories of themselves and their influence, including anything that involved their recent actions and that of the Black Lanterns. Once done with that Hope activated a portal and the twins entered it with smiles as the adventures they were to face in their own time line began.

“All is well.” Hope said and activated her powers, bringing light to the dark as the task to bring back their home began.

AHAHAHAHAA! I bet many of you think this is over but BABY it’s NOT! (sorry for the nuttiness, end chapter overload XP) Anyway I WILL be continuing this story, I am going to go into research on the planets in the DC universe and would like some suggestions that could help me with that.
